Stone walls

Moora has had dry stone walls for a long time.  Our southern boundary still has the semi intact remnants of one which is about 500 metres long.  A broken down one was removed from our western boundary just before we bought the place.  We've also found the bones of earlier walls on the northern boundary.

The stones from the western boundary demolition have been put to good use around the house by Huntly Barton's wallers.  There are several photos from Moora on this page http://www.wtjones.com.au/drystone.  There is nothing original in describing Huntly as, at the very least, a regional treasure.   

We have used traditional walling to create an inner garden around the house, to create level changes and flat areas for farm purposes.   Sometimes it seems 'expensive' - but not when we look at the overall effect.
